Flu shot time? Or not?

Cold weather usually means our thoughts turn to cranking up the car heater and whether or not we should get a flu shot. That decision is completely up to you..but before you do...perhaps you could try a few natural remedies first? Since I'm sure you are already exercising and getting enough rest...adding a few 'superfoods' into your regime might be all you need to ward off colds and flu.

What are 'superfoods? Simply that...foods that contain high amounts of vitamins,minerals and anti-oxidants. Due to their nutrient density, they have a very positive effect on your health.

Regular consumption of garlic extract can have a positive effect on blood pressure and high cholesterol as well as being full of anti-oxidants. Ginger relieves pain, reduces inflammation, while ginger tea can help soothe a sore throat. Goji berries are full of vitamin C, vitamin B, essential fatty acids, amino acids and minerals. Chia seeds which are rich in omega 3 fatty acids, anti-oxidants and soluble fiber. Matcha is a green tea powder that is said to contain 20 times more anti oxidants than pomegranate.Serve it as a matcha latte to replace your coffee and still get an energy kick. Kale is rich in anti-oxidants, strengthens your immune system, enhances your skin and helps with the prevention of Alzheimer's or arteriosclerosis. Let's not forget blueberries. They are an anti-inflammatory vitamin bomb that prevent illnesses and disease.

When in doubt about your health, always consult your physician...but by incorporating some or all of these 'superfoods' into your diet...perhaps you can see your Dr. just a little less.
