How to break the online habit....
I wish I had more time................I wish my kids did less gaming.............I wish I was closer to my significant other...........I wish I was in better shape............We all have a 'to do' list of things we wish we 'had time'to do.....but without realizing it.....we are letting cell phones, computers, facebook, netflix ,(fill in the blank )....... steal our lives .....Every day we are more and more connected to our devices and less and less connected to one another.....or ourselves. Now is the time to kick that habit. We still have 24 hours in our day....we no longer have to hunt for food or spend every waking moment in the field to survive the winter. But so many hours are wasted just staring into a screen. We have the power to take back our lives. We have the knowledge and capability to regain control of our lives.
Have you ever just turned off the TV or computer or your phone....and then thought.....hmmm.....now what should I do? I have some ideas to get you back in control of your life and connected to yourself, your friends and your family.
1) READ....go to the library or a bookstore....get a book and read it. 2) Call a friend....not text...not IMG....or facebook.....but an actual voice to voice phone call. 3) Meet with a friend in person....go for a walk...or dinner....or coffee.....no phones allowed....just face to face conversation. 4) Write a journal...it doesn't have to be a best seller....it can be anything you want.....fact or fiction....illustrated or not....your choice. 5) Cook, or bake....find a new recipe and try it out....share with your co-workers. 6) Meditate...set aside 10 or 15 minutes aside daily for quiet introspection. 7) Clean your house....don't take up your whole weekend....do a room a day to free up your free time. 8) Exercise....can't get it done in the morning, go to the gym right after work. 9)Do an art project...buy a coloring book, arrange a painting or pottery night with your friends. Now that you're starting to think ...the sky's the limit.....put down the phone or the remote....have a life!
