Dare to dream...
When I grow up I want to be a princess....or an astronaut ....or an airplane pilot.
How many times have we asked children...what do you want to be when you grow up? And their answers are as varied as they are. We never respond with "Oh you can't do that." We just smile and tell them, "Well, if you work hard you can be whatever you want".
At what point do we lose that ability to dream? When do we stop believing that we can do anything we want? When do we stop thinking we can and start telling ourselves we can't? When do we allow making a living drown out having a life?
Does it happen with a big crash bang? Or it just a slow steady slip slide away from believing? Much like the fable of how a frog can be boiled to death, often we just "put up with "situations that make us uncomfortable or unhappy because we are unwilling to believe that the situation is harmful or simply hampering us.
We become "actively disengaged" in our own lives. We are simply going through the motions. But,deep down inside is a dreamer crying to get out. Why are we so afraid to let that voice be heard? Why are we no longer a "passionate contributor" to our own life story? There can be as many reasons why someone has lost their dream as there are people.
But, just because you have temporarily lost your dream, you don't have to give up forever on it. Any time we realize that we have lost our way, we can take a step back and reevaluate our path....and adjust our life compass to more truly align with what we desire. That's called "daring to dream".
In our workshops, time and again, we see that people have stopped dreaming. Often they don't even realize that they have become complacent. Take a step back and look at your life....Are you living the life? Are you on your way to fulfilling your dreams? If not, why not? How can you align your current life with the dream life you envisioned? How can you get back on track? It's easy.....dare to dream!
